Addition to Chapter 42

Bella's POV

I heard the door slam. I stood up from Edwards lap and walked towards the back door. I was suddenly greeted by Eddie running full speed right into my legs. I smiled and bent down to pick him up. He returned my grin as soon as he was level with me.

“Did you have fun hunting?” I asked him. He nodded and placed his head on my shoulder. I walked towards the back door just as Rosalie and Chantelle came in. Rosalie paused and turned on Chantelle, she started wiping her clothes to get the grass off. I laughed at the state of Chantelle. “What happened?”

“I was wrestling a mountain lion” she grinned at me. My eyes widened in shock. I couldn’t imagine little Chantelle fighting a mountain lion. I didn’t let Renesmee go anywhere near them, especially when there wasn’t a full vampire there to fight it off if it got too rough.

“Did you kill it?” I asked her.

“I did” she said proudly. “Momma I’m ok, I’ll go change.” She complained to Rosalie and started walking away from her. Rosalie sighed and watched Chantelle walk to the stairs.

“I can’t believe that mutt let the girls go near a mountain lion. It was very irresponsible.” Rosalie muttered. I held back a small laugh as Jacob came in with Renesmee on his back.

“Hi Momma” she chimed and jumped off Jake’s back.

“Hey” I said to them both. Renesmee skipped over to me and hugged my side. “Guess what? Stephanie is coming to visit” I said to Renesmee. She smiled to me.

“When?”

“In two days. Oh and Jacob. Please don’t let the kids near mountain lions.” I said.

“They were fiiine” he said and walked over to me. He kissed my cheek then Renesmee’s and headed for the front door.

“Where are you going?” I asked him.

“Out”

“Where?”

“Who are you? My mom?”

“No but-“He cut me off.

“Bells I’ll be back in an hour or so”

“Ok” I said quietly. He sighed and turned around. I still had Eddie on my hip and Renesmee hugging my other side. He smiled at us and came back over.

“I’m just going back to La Push. I need to warn them about the vamp that’s coming to visit.”

“Oh” I said. I felt stupid now. He smiled and kissed my head. He then ran out the door and phased when he was clear of the house. I lead my children into the living room. Renesmee let go of me and skipped over to Edward sitting on the couch. She crawled onto his lap and he wrapped his arms around her.

“Mountain lions huh?” he asked her. She nodded with a huge smile across her face. He chuckled. “Was it just Chantelle or did you get a go?”

“Just Chantelle.” She sighed and rested her head on Edward's chest. “Jacob knew we weren’t supposed to hunt lions but Chantelle used her power thing to make him say yes”

“Did she now?” Edward said.

“Mhmm” Renesmee replied closing her eyes.

“Renesmee, do you want to go to bed to sleep or are you going to use your father as a bed?” I asked her.

“I’m good here” she muttered without opening her eyes. Edward smiled and shifted Renesmee so she had her legs round him and her chest was against his. I could see her cheeks were extra flushed. I turned to Eddie still on my hip.

“How much did she drink?”

“A lot” he laughed. “She had 4 and a half elks and some of the mountain lion when Chantelle had killed it” I laughed lightly and sat down next to Edward.

“How much did you have?” I asked Eddie as I brought him to the front of my lap. I examined his eyes. They were chocolate brown with his famous red tint to them. He was warm to. Not as warm as a human but warmer than a vampire.

“I had 3 elks and the other half of Renesmee’s” he said. “I’m not tired though”

“I see that” I said and smiled to him. I looked over to Edward and he was staring at Renesmee stroking her hair. He looked totally engrossed in the moment. It wasn’t often Renesmee fell asleep whilst cuddling Edward or me. At least not for a while.

Edward and I sat on the couch with our children for nearly three hours. None of us said much. Renesmee woke after the second hour and just lay there on Edward breathing deeply watching Eddie and me. Eddie was playing with my hair or placing stories in my head. He also asked about what happened with Alice and Jasper. I avoided the question telling him he didn’t need to know just yet. We’d tell him when we knew more. He didn’t argue, just sighed and continued playing with my hair or my rings on my fingers.

“Where did you get these rings?” he asked me pointing to my wedding and engagement ring.

“This is my engagement ring, and this is my wedding ring” I said pointing to each one.

“What are they for?”

“It means I’m married to daddy”

“Oh. What’s this one?” he asked pointing to the ring I got off Nessie for my birthday.

“Renesmee gave me it for my birthday”

“It’s pretty!” he said and began twirling it on my finger.

“I agree” I said and looked over to Renesmee. She was smiling at us.

“Can I get you a ring?” he asked. I laughed.

“If you want”

“Will you wear it all the time like you do with these?”

“Of course I would” I said to him and kissed his head.

“Daddy, I want to buy mommy a ring” Eddie said sitting up to look at Edward. Edward laughed at his son.

“In other words, you want me to buy it and give it to you so you can tell your mommy you bought it?”

“Maybe” Eddie said and smiled at him. Renesmee and I let out a small giggle. Eddie jumped off my lap moments later. “Come on Nessie. I want to play” he said and held his hand out to Renesmee.

“Ok” she groaned and got off Edward’s lap. They ran out of the room and I scooted over to Edward. He pulled me onto his lap and I sighed in content. I was once again in my favourite place in the world.
